What is Long Term Care?

Long term care insurance is a supplement to one's health insurance. It protects you in a skilled or convalescent home, an assisted living facility and in your own home if you have a comprehensive plan. It can also cover respite care, hospice, adult day care, medical alert systems, home modification, and other types of protection not covered by traditional insurance or Medicare. It is basically an insurance policy that opens the door to alternative types of coverage that might be cost prohibitive without insurance.
